Het park kreeg maar de helft van het gewenste aantal bezoekers over de vloer (30.000 mensen per dag). Disneyland Hongkong kostte drie miljard dollar en is voor 57 procent in handen van de regering. De ontslagen directeur, Don Robinson, mag een vakantiepark gaan leiden op de Bahama's.
